Abstract
A monolayer of amphiphilic molecules at the air/water interface is studied using the displacement current technique in the metal/air-gap/monolayer/metal configuration. The current is generated due to orientational changes of polar molecules induced by the lateral compression. The dielectric relaxation phenomena in a monolayer are investigated and their dependence on the polar orientational order of constituent molecules is presented.
