Abstract :
The Langmuir-Blodgett technique has been used to fabricate monolayers of N,N′-bis(3-aminophenyl)-3,4:9,10-perylenebis (dicarboximide) [AM-PTCD-AM]. Surface-enhanced resonant Raman scattering of the monolayer on silver was obtained. The material and the films were characterised using UV-visible absorption, steady-state fluorescence and infrared spectroscopy. Vacuum-evaporated films were prepared on infrared transparent substrates and on smooth silver films for reflection-absorption experiments. The 3-dimensional images of the silver island films used to produce SERRS spectra were obtained by atomic force microscopy.
