Lanthanide nitrates as templates for the synthesis of new supramolecular dimetallic heptadentate Schiff base azaoxapodates

Reaction of 2,6-diacetylpyridine with 3,3′-diaminodipropylamine in the presence of lanthanide nitrates as template agents gives the heptadentate macroacyclic complexes of podate type with terminal acetylpyridyl groups and a N5O2 set of donor atoms as a result of [2+1] Schiff base condensation. The complexes were characterized by spectral data (IR, 1H NMR, FAB-MS) and thermogravimetric and elemental analyses.
