Abstract
We reported that the irradiation to a novel amphiphilic rhenium (I) complex resulted to the photoisomerization of ligand 4′-nitrostilbazole that coordinated to the complex in solution and at air/water interface. π–a isotherms and FT-IR spectra demonstrated that the photoisomerization of the complex would lead to small change of area per molecule and stacking of molecules became more orderly than those without photoisomerization. The electronic spectra proved that the photoisomerization had influence to the metal to ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transition of the complex, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurement showed the aggregate formation on the surface after irradiation to the complex.
