Abstract :
Investigations were carried out to establish the optimal composition range of phosphate glasses for radiophotoluminescence (RPL) detectors. The glasses are suitable for emergency dosimetric control. The basic physical and chemical properties of the glasses, such as bulk density and microhardness values, have been checked and DTA analyses have been carried out. From the light absorption characteristics of the glasses it was established that they possess a very well expressed transmittance in the UV and visible optical regions. A correlation between the properties investigated and glass composition is performed.
