Abstract :
Viscous flow behaviour, thermal expansion and heat capacity features of Fe25Zr75 glassy alloy have been studied under non-isothermal conditions at different heating rates ranging from 1.25 to 40 K min−1. The experimental viscosity and thermal expansion results have been obtained using Perkin-Elmer TMS-2 and Hereaus TMA 500 thermomechanical systems. Heat capacity measurements have been performed using a Perkin-Elmer differential scanning calorimeter DSC 7. All types of experimental results have been considered theoretically on the basis of the free volume model. It has been shown that the kinetics of free volume changes describes equally well the three different kinds of kinetic phenomena studied. The conclusion has been drawn that a direct inter-relation between non-isothermal viscosity, thermal expansion and heat capacity measurements exists, which demonstrates the self-consistency of the free volume model itself.
