Abstract
The stress-strain response and the dislocation structure have been studied on nickel crystals cyclically strained into the saturation stage at temperatures between 77 and 900 K in a wide range of resolved shear strain amplitudes. The paper surveys the effect of the deformation temperature on mechanical data and on parameters of the microstructure for crystals oriented for single slip. The microstructure is analysed on a macroscopic, a mesoscopic and a microscopic scale. On the basis of the experimentally observed data some interesting aspects of recent models of cyclic plasticity are discussed.
