Mesostructure of the localization in prestrained mild steel

Strain localization was observed in mild steel submitted to sequential tests. The mechanisms of deformation within the bands of localization were studied at macroscopic, mesoscopic and microscopic scales, via dislocation substructures observations, local strain and rotation fields measurements within the grains. The conclusion is that microstructural effects govern the localization rather than textural effects.
