Abstract
The microstructures of NiAl(Co) alloys produced by hot press exothermic dispersion (HPXD) technique have been studied by means of optical microscopy, XRD, and TEM. The results show that, with the different amount of the third element Co adding, the structure of the alloys is a little bit different. NiAl–7Co alloy mainly consists of β-NiAl and γ′-Ni3Al; however NiAl–l4Co mainly consists of β-NiAl, γ′-Ni3Al and some NiAl martensite. The data of compressive testing at room temperature show that the room temperature ductility of NiAl(Co) alloys has been greatly improved by adding proper amount of Co.
