Abstract
Poly(p-phenylene) (PPP) nanofibre arrays were fabricated by using porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template. The detailed molecular structure of obtained PPP nanofibres was characterized by infrared spectrum, and estimated to be almost complete para configuration. X-ray diffraction patterns showed the PPP nanofibres crystalline structure and change of that after annealing in the AAO template. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning probe microscopy (SPM) were employed to characterize the morphologies of the liberated nanofibres and the PPP/AAO composite membrane. The maximum absorptions in UV-Visible spectrum of the PPP/AAO composite membrane were located at 317 and 378 nm Photoluminescent spectra of the PPP nanofibre arrays exhibited increased blue emission with a split peak at 430 and 470 nm after annealing.
