Abstract
Titanium materials reinforced by silicon carbide fibres are good candidates for the manufacture of integrally bladed compressor rings. The composite is thus used as a ring to carry the very high hoop stress generated in the disc. A multiscale approach is presented in this paper to describe the damageable/viscoplastic behaviour of the composite. An analytical method based on the “elastic localisation rule” is used to give the relation between the macroscopic and the microscopic scale. Virtual tests are thus used in order to (re)identify the composite behaviour. Finally, the comparison between the experiment and model results is presented.
