Abstract :
The concept of lifelong learning, now a topic of world-wide urgency, has evolved markedly over time according to its historical, social and technological context. Todayʹs requirement of repeated response to headlong technological innovation and global challenges of other kinds has transformed ʹlifelong learningʹ from its old status as an optional extra for older people to a new role as an essential perspective in every phase of education. The pivot of that reorientation is to be found in a fresh concept of ʹyoung adull ʹ education, with repercussions throughout every educational system.
