Abstract
Gas atomisation is the established technology for generation of rapidly solidified powder particulate for consolidation into bulk products for property evaluation and engineering applications. This invited contribution reviews progress in this area for aluminium alloys over the past 5 years, with particular attention to the following aspects:•
of powder particle size fraction on properties,
and degassing effects,
ement of strength targets at room and elevated temperatures,
pment of creep resistance and superplastic behaviour,
soid coarsening kinetics at elevated temperatures,
ed wear and damping performance.
