Abstract
By using dynamic mechanical tensile tests, effects of structural vibration frequency, strain amplitude, temperature as well as cycling on superelastic damping characteristics of Ti–50.8 at.% Ni wire were studied. A damper model was established, and a mechanical damper was made from the wire for damping control of the frame structure vibration. The results show that good superelastic damping performance is achieved in its characteristics temperature–frequency–stress–strain window. Such vibration control effect is verified by numerical simulation of vibration reduction of NiTi wire damper in the practical structure under both multi-earthquakes and rare-earthquakes, and the results showed that such damper has rather promising effect on structural vibration control.
