Abstract :
The high-temperature corrosion of Fe3Al in various O2/Cl2 mixtures has been investigated at 700 °C. The corrosion kinetics was obtained using thermogravimetric analysis and microstructural study was conducted for the corrosion products by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The thermogrvimetric results indicate that depending on oxygen/chlorine ratio, the corrosion exhibits various kinetic modes with different corrosion rates. The complex corrosion products were formed during the corrosion. A quasi-stability diagram was utilized to explain the corrosion of Fe3Al in the gas mixtures.
