Abstract :
Ferrite microstructures and plastic anisotropy of low-carbon steel strips with and without evident differences in crystallographic textures were investigated. The steel strips with weak texture variation show a weaker linear dependence of normal anisotropy on the logarithm of the mean grain size of γ-fiber oriented ferrite than those with strong texture variation. The far deviation between the measured normal anisotropy and the corresponding calculated value only from the crystallographic texture by using the relaxed constraint model also reveals that the grain size dependence should be taken into account, especially for the steel strips with weak textures. Based on the different deformation behaviors between grain internal region and grain boundary region, the concept “effective texture intensity” is proposed in this paper to explain the texture-dedicated grain size dependence of normal anisotropy.
