Abstract
The anelasticity in ternary Fe–Al–Me (MeCo, Cr, Ge, Mn, Nb, Si, Ta, Ti, Zr) alloys is studied and discussed using mechanical spectroscopy in Hz and kHz ranges and standard methods of structural investigations (TEM, DSC, XRD). Several internal friction peaks in Fe–Al alloyed by a third element (Me) with contents up to 5Co, 25Cr, 5Mn, 0.3Nb, 25Si, 6Ta, 4Ti, 15Zr (in at.%) have been detected, compared with those observed in the Fe3Al alloy and analysed with respect to the structure of the alloys. Possible relaxation mechanisms are discussed.
