Abstract
A model is introduced to predict the initial yield location and initial yield stress of thin sheets as a function of crystal system, active slip systems, texture and the ratio grain size:specimen size. Experiments are performed for local and statistical comparison with the model predictions. For efficient computation, optimized variants of the simplex algorithm are used. Simulation results are presented for various crystal systems and textures.
