Abstract
The creep data obtained in the previous work on Fe–34.5 Mn–9.2 Al–1.8 Si–0.95C (wt.%) steel are analysed according to traditional parameterization methodologies which consider the pattern of the iso-stress lines variation in the coordinates axis (t, time; T, temperature) log(tr) versus T and log(tr) versus 1/T. The better performance was achieved with the Manson–Succop method, followed by the Larson–Miller and Orr–Sherby–Dorn techniques. Results are compared with the scarce creep data available in literature for this material. It is suggested that the creep strength of Fe–Mn–Al alloys may be improved considerably by development of systematic work on the effect of chemical composition and thermo-mechanical treatments in their creep behaviour.
