Abstract :
Texture evolution during uniaxial tension of strip cast and direct chill cast AA5754 alloys was studied at 295, 78, and 4.2 K. The results show that texture development accelerates after about 20% of strain. Independently upon the initial texture, the tensile axis of deformed samples rotates to 〈1 1 1〉 stable end orientation and the intensity of 〈1 1 1〉 diffraction peak increases parabolically with the flow stress. The texture produced at lower temperatures is characterized by lower intensity of main orientation components. The results are interpreted in terms of the features of the dislocation substructure produced in these materials during deformation.
