Abstract :
Effect of Si content on the stacking fault energy (SFE) was investigated in γ-Fe–31Mn–(0.25–8.67)Si–0.77C (at%) alloys by X-ray diffraction line profile analysis. The experimental results show that, with increasing Si content, the stacking fault probability increases exponentially, and SFE decreases linearly. The variation of both terms with Si content originates from the anomalous drop in shear modulus caused by the antiferromagnetic transition.
