Abstract
In the present work, the hot deformation behavior of 60Nitinol (Ni60 wt%–Ti40 wt%) alloy was investigated. This alloy lacks the sufficient hot workability due to its high content of intermetallic phases. The compression tests carried out at the temperatures ranging from 950 to 1050 °C and at the strain rates of 0.001–0.35 s−1. Both the peak and steady-state stresses decrease with increasing deformation temperature and decreasing strain rate, which can be represented by the Zener–Hollomon parameter. The constitutive equations were developed to model the hot deformation behavior of 60Nitinol. The activation energy regarding the hot deformation of Ni60 wt%–Ti40 wt% was about 250 kJ mol−1.
