Abstract
A new digital algorithm called the Conditional Polynomial Filter (CPF) is presented to solve the problem of the separation of radiation pulses from electronic noise of the same level. A PC-based simulation of a practical very low signal-to-noise measurement case is presented, which proves the interest of this new algorithm vs. the classical analog signal processing done by a shaper: on the CPF signal the vanishing of the gaussian noise which is present on the shaper signal was observed. The simulation results were followed by successful real experiments. This validation process demonstrates also the interest of a PC simulation for the early phases of a new measurement algorithm development.
