Abstract :
Crystal field transitions and quasielastic magnetic scattering were observed in PrAl3 using a polarised neutron diffractometer/spectrometer. These were positively identified using neutron polarisation analysis. Transitions were observed at 3.5 and 4.5 meV, and both magnetic and nuclear elastic scattering were successfully separated.
