Abstract :
The deformation behavior of 47Zr–45Ti–5Al–3V alloy in the β phase field was investigated by using the processing map in the temperature range of 700–1050 °C and the strain rate range of 10−3–10° s−1. The results show that at low strains the flow instability occurs at strain rates higher than 0.4 s−1 and in the temperature range of 700–835 °C. With increasing strain, the instability regime gradually extends to lower strain rates and higher temperatures. In the whole strain range, the optimum processing parameters for hot working are 950 °C and 10−3 s−1 with a peak efficiency of about 0.72. At large strains, the efficiency of power dissipation is more than 0.7 at the temperature of 950 °C and strain rate of 100 s−1, which may be considered to be a feasible working condition.
