Abstract :
Techniques for preparing self-supporting targets between 45 and 450 μg/cm2 from separated isotopic boron by electron bombardment or focused ion beam sputtering are discussed. Microscope slides coated with betaine or nickel plates are used as substrates from which strong self-supporting foils with little residual stress were floated. A spectrophotometer has been used to measure the thickness of boron targets prepared by electron bombardment.
