Abstract
Thin foils of austenitic stainless steel were subjected to uniaxial tensile tests, which were interrupted at true strains of 0.05, 0.13, and 0.2. Microstructural analysis was performed (before and after deformation) using EBSD technique and misorientation was calculated with respect to corresponding undeformed grains. It was found that crystallographic orientations and twin and grain boundaries strongly influence the development of misorientation through dislocation accumulation within grains and near boundaries. These observations were corroborated by dislocation dynamics simulations and TEM studies.
