Remarks on the resolvability of high-energy particle jets

The optimal conditions for separating multi-jet events from background events in particle physics are examined. It is shown that the maximal information about such events is not always obtained with the standard application of jet-resolution parameters. A modified criterion is proposed and a new extrapolation method is introduced.
