Abstract :
An ion optical design of a gantry for proton beam therapy is presented. To achieve a wide-range beam scanning, a single 120° bending magnet has been divided into three magnets of 3 × 40° with different air gaps and field strengths, in order to improve the ion optical properties as well as the overall weight and the weight distribution.
