Abstract
The transformation of strain-induced martensite in two metastable austenitic stainless steels, AISI 304, with the same basic composition and concentrations of Cu variables was characterized by transmission electron microscopy and magnetic measurements. The deformations to induce the formation of martensite were performed using the test of conformability with Nakajima tooling at room temperature. The results obtained for the various samples showed that the steel with lower content of Cu presented higher degree of magnetization. Also it was observed that the martensite magnetic αʹ and paramagnetic ε are formed at the intersection of dislocation, in the grain boundary, inside and at the edge of twinned and the stacking faults in the austenite.
