The ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker

The technical design of the silicon tracking system for ATLAS is described. It contains 61 m2 of strip detectors, must function after integrated doses in excess of 1014 protons/cm2, and maintain mechanical tolerances characteristic of silicon detector resolutions over scales in excess of 1 m.
