Abstract
Photodetection and photon imaging have always been an important tool for medical diagnosis, therapy and prognosis. Radiology and nuclear medicine are the two disciplines that have taken most advantage of the advent of new digital detector technology to improve their sensitivity and specificity. A brief overview will be given and selected new developments and new ideas will be discussed at length.
