Abstract
The results of TLD-700 irradiations with 3 MeV protons using a Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator are shown. In order to estimate the contribution of X-rays, CaF2:Mn TL detectors were also irradiated under the same condition as TLD-700. Due to the presence of low-energy X-rays, the peak area method of high-temperature peak 7 of TLD-700 was found to be more suitable for proton dose determination. Thermoluminescent (TL) efficiency for protons using this peak relatively to 137Cs gamma rays was calculated. The relative responses (peak 7)p/(peak 5)γ and (peak 7)p/(peak 7)γ of 0.16 and 9.6, respectively, were obtained. The relative efficiency for peak 7, ηp,γ=8.0 was found taking into account the self-absorption of the TL photons in the dosimeter.
