Abstract :
The angle-averaged effective analyzing powers, A ¯ c , for proton–carbon inclusive scattering were measured as a function of the kinetic energy of protons in a double scattering experiment. The measurements were performed in the kinetic energy range of 44.8–136.5 MeV at the center of 1–5 cm thick graphite analyzers using a polarized proton beam on a CH 2 film or liquid hydrogen serving as target for the primary scattering. These data can be used for measuring the polarization of protons emerging from other reactions such as H ( d ⇒ , p ⇒ ) d .
