Abstract
To obtain detailed information on the response of a pnCCD pixel to X-ray photons, we performed the mesh experiment with pnCCDs developed in MPI-HLL. Data obtained from the experimental setup are analysed in several steps to reconstruct the charge collection function of a single pixel. We developed a purely analytical method to reconstruct the parameters angle, hole distance and offset position of the mesh which give the position of each hole. A quality measure for the analysis method is the precision to which these parameters can be reconstructed. By means of a Monte Carlo simulation and analysis of measurement data, we determined the precision of the reconstruction method. We also present charge collection functions reconstructed from data obtained with two types of pnCCDs which were operated in two different operation modes.
