Abstract :
Biomolecular ions have been stored in an electrostatic storage ring at KEK. The lifetimes and intensities of these ions are suitable for research on atomic collisions. In order to study electron-biomolecular ion collisions, an electron target was constructed and installed in one of the straight sections of the ring. The structure of the device is the same as that of an electron cooler with an adiabatically expanded electron beam. The design of the electron target and the experimental results are presented.
