Abstract :
Pion/Kaon particle identification from 1 to 5 GeV momentum range at a future Super B-Factory will require a detector with excellent light hadron detection efficiency and low fake rates. Extrapolating from current machine backgrounds, high hit rates drive a detector with fine segmentation and excellent temporal response to reject these backgrounds. An Imaging Time-of-Propagation (iTOP) detector, consisting of an array of quartz radiator bars and fine-pixel, excellent single photon timing photodetectors, is an excellent candidate to meet these needs. High-density, low-power, low-EMI and pipelined readout is required for such a detector. We present here the developments and test results from a prototype of such a detector.
