Abstract
The Canadian Light Source (CLS) is a 2.9 GeV synchrotron facility. It consists of seven user beamlines (not including two facility diagnostic beamlines), seven more under construction, and five additional beamlines for which funding has been announced. This article describes some details of the initial stages of operation.
