Substituting ground mango kernels (Mangifera indica L) for maize in broiler starter diets

The effect of replacing 100, 200 or 300 g of maize with ground mango kernels kg−1 diet in the starter diet on growth performance was studied in a 4-week experiment using 144 unsexed day-old Tropic Bro broiler chicks. The results showed that ground mango kernels could be used to replaced up to 200 g of maize kg−1 without significantly (P < 0.01) affecting the body weight gain, while the replacement of more than 100 g maize kg−1 significantly (P < 0.01) depressed feed consumption. There was no significant difference between treatments for feed conversion efficiency.
