Abstract
The effect of enzyme addition on the nutritive value of a diet containing unprocessed sunflower seed (150 g kg−1) was evaluated. A commercial enzyme complex (Energex® CT) with cell wall degrading activity was used at the inclusion level of 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 g kg−1 diet. The results showed that responses to enzyme in terms of performance parameters, fat and individual fatty acids digestibilities and dietary AMEn were small, and the differences were not significant in any case. Apparent ileal crude protein and amino acid digestibility values were similar among treatment groups, and no tendency was detected associated with enzyme application.
