RETRACTED: Kinetic and isothermal studies of lead ion adsorption onto bentonite

Colloid Interface Sci., 307 (2007) 309–316, doi:10.1016/j.jcis.2006.10.054. More than 75% of the text of the original submission of the manuscript by Shujing Zhu et al. has been copied word-by-word from the paper of Hao Chen and Aiqin Wang without quotes and acknowledgements. Even part of the data in Table 3 and the total Figure 3a, b, c, d were copied. the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not appeared in a publication elsewhere. Re-use of any data should be appropriately cited. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and we apologize to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process. The Editorial Office has informed the authors about this plagiarism but has not received a reply.
