Abstract :
Phosphatidyl choline (PC)–montmorillonite (MMT) was prepared by intercalation. The PC–MMT was dispersed in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to form a PC–MMT/PDMS composite. The composite material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR). The basal spacing of MMT increased from 1.23 to 6.13 nm, indicating that PC was intercalated. The changes in the FTIR spectra also confirmed that PC interacted with MMT. The mechanical properties showed almost no difference between PDMS and PC–MMT/PDMS. Blood compatibility of PC–MMT/PDMS films was evaluated using the hemolysis test and recalcification assay. Both hemolysis and recalcification data showed that PC–MMT/PDMS has better blood compatibility than PDMS.
