Meteorological potential for contamination of arctic troposphere: aircraft measuring system for atmospheric turbulence and methods for calculation it characteristics. Archive and database of atmospheric turbulence

A short description of aircraft equipment for measuring atmospheric turbulence, used during the “Arctic Haze” mission in 1994, is given. Methods for calculations of atmospheric turbulence and diffusion characteristics are described, including square-root deviations of fluctuations, spectrum, coefficient of turbulent diffusion, fluxes of impulse, heat and water vapor. An archive of raw turbulent data and database of turbulence characteristics, developed in the Central Aerological Observatory based on measurements taken 1978–1994 are also described.
