A study of the charging characteristics and equilibrium potential of dust grains in comets

Charging characteristics of dust grains are analyzed, and typical parameters of dust plasmas in comets are computed. Discussion is made for Comet Halley and Comet G-Z, and some main regularities of the equilibrium potential of dust grains are found. Generally speaking, these regularities can also be applied to the plasmas of other comets.
