Preparation of metallic particles and ribbons for Auger electron microanalysis

In this article, a technique based on electroplating is described for mounting small metal particles arid rapidly solidified metal ribbons for Auger electron microanalysis. The surface composition of a scratched Al-17.3 at. %Cu eutectic ribbon was measured by Auger electron spectroscopy and compared with its bulk composition.
