Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to identify the level of awareness and perception among Malay Language teachers towards the use of augmented reality (AR) technology in education. This qualitative study was an explorative case study and employed a structured interview protocol that involved 44 Malay Language teachers who attended a Diploma in Education course in one of the Teacher Training Institutes in the Central Zone of Malaysia. A video presentation of AR application in education developed by the researcher was demonstrated to the participants prior to the interviews. The qualitative data was analyzed using NVivo software. Findings indicated that the Malay Language teachers had low level of awareness towards AR application in education (3.4%). However, they gave very positive perception on the use of AR in education especially in Malay Language subject. They perceived AR as an innovative, attractive and effective future teaching media.
