Abstract
It is found in (Nd9.5Fe84.4B6.1)100-2mTimCm (m = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6) that when Ti&C are ≤ 3 at.%, the TiC phase appears in rapidly quenched nanocrystalline alloys. When Ti&C are > 3 at.%, the TiB2 phase appears, and the amount of Nd2Fe14B is decreased. Coercivity and the energy product increase significantly with increasing Ti&C content (up to ≤ 2 at.%) and the irreversible flux loss decreases. However, remanence decreases slightly at the same time. Ti&C substitution to the NdFeB alloy refines the grain size and leads to a more equiaxed microstructure.
