Abstract
Automation in flow assembly lines is hindered by the need for clocked lines when using automated systems. Geometrical inaccuracies and vibrations of the conveyor systems complicate the use of automation as well. The assembly in motion, meaning a robot system which is synchronized in all degrees of freedom to the moving conveyor belt, is a promising attempt to solve these difficulties. Main advantages of synchronized assembly are the avoidance of buffers and the reduction of the throughput time.
tomated assembly in motion is realized by using mechatronic components and innovative feedback algorithms which are currently under development.
