Abstract :
The ability of verbal interactions affect human life . This is due to verbal interaction is an important aspect of the communication process . This study focused on the forms of language used by youngsters in oral interaction, language skills and communicative considerations in a formal conversation. In addition, this study discusses the influence of cognitive aspects of adolescent verbal interaction. Discussion of these two aspects are implemented in the framework of ethnography of communication and Relevance theory. This study is a field study using audio recordings of oral interaction activities participated by the youth in School-Based Oral Test. Four schools in the District of Kuala Langat have been used in this study. Verbal interaction recordings were transcribed for analysis using ethnographic communication theory Saville-Troike. According to the theory of ethnography of communications Saville-Troike, every verbal interaction must meet the requirements of the proposed components, ie. genre, topic, purpose, background, manners, participant of interaction , forms of the message, the message contents, the sequences of speech acts, interaction rules, and norms of interpretation. Teens have been doing a variety of considerations to ensure communicative verbal interaction implemented properly. From pragmatic concerns, the cognitive inputs also affect the ability of adolescent practicing their interaction in formal situations. Youngsters apply the experience of context to highlight their thinking through interactions that participated.
