  • Abstract
    Leadership style plays a major role in strategy implementation but it has not been discussed enough. Despite of vague nature of leadership, it has become a vital factor in strategy implementation. The purpose of this paper is to identify the role of leadership style in effective strategy implementation in public organizations of one of the states of IRAN, Azerbaijan Gharbi. Survey samples were gathered randomly from 60 top and middle managers of public sector and the result data of the questionarie were analyzed by Pearson correlation technique, ANOVA and TUKEY. Findings show that, first, consultative leadership style is the dominant style in public organizations of Azerbaijan Gharbi in Iran. Second, despite of the middle managers thoughts, the effectiveness of strategy imple mentation is average and above the average. Third, there is a meaningful relation between effective strategy implementation and leadership style in such a manner that consultative, benevolent and participative styles have a positive relation, and exploitive style has a negative relation with effective strategy implementation. Finally, the consultative leadership style had a substantial effect on strategy implementation in our sample.
